Running a 1.9dg and it's still got some life in it but just thinking about things When they finally go south. Taking mileage in to consideration @ about 22/gallon Is it more economical to rebuild my engine or look for a more economic one. Would I get the extra money spent out back from the extra mpg?Also thinking of lpg but should I wait till it's broke to do it?

If you live in the UK, LPG seems to be a bit of a no brainer.
Over here in Ireland however, LPG filling stations are few and far between so not really a viable option.

Cant answer the first part with regards to engine.

Depends what condition it's in.

Other part... LPG it.

Put the biggest tank you can possibly. It will pay for itself in a few years

22 mpg, what's your secret???? That's far better than a lot of engines so I woyldnt use that as a determining factor. If the van is a keeper, invest in LPG ASAP, you'll be saving every time you fill up. Regarding the condition of your engine, why not do a compression test and an oil pressure test then you'll have a better idea of what shape it's in?

Subaru 2l ej20 engine with conversion bits from RJES. Slightly more expensive if doing the work yourself but much more powerful and reliable than the 1.9 DG I took out (DG spun a big end bearing within an hour of owning the van so not a big fan of these engines
