There may have been a time when they made a pipe with an oring groove but all aftermarket pipes I have ever seen use a flat gasket.

plastic elbow really? have a pic?
If you really want to replace a 30year old plastic part that is critical to the life of your engine then measure the groove and I'm sure we can find a standard o ring.
I'm sure I have a few metal ones that are servicable if you want one pm me

The original rubber seal for those plastic flanges were shaped to avoid the bolt holes ... they suffered from thermostathousingitis and split ... ask Putney.

I've decided to buy a metal pipe.
Keeping it original and adding the extra weight is a worry.

In the future some wise crack will say.."well that's not original, VW didn't use stainless blah blah...."
I shall keep the plastic one, clean it, restore its black colour.
Pop it in a bag with all the other "removed for modernisation" parts.
