saggy back end/rear spring query

Since fitting a 1.9 tdi a few years ago the back end is a bit lower than it should be, especially when it`s loaded up. Mine is `80 so maybe the springs are just a bit tired.
I did take a couple of springs from an `87 camper in a scrapyard a few years ago, just incase, so I could put those on but a couple of people have suggested using springs from a T4 camper/carrevelle which they say would raise it up. But after reading a thread about gowesty kits and problems with travel in both directions I`m wondering whether it`s such a good idea.
Has anyone ever tried using T4 springs, know any reasons, or views why I should stick with original?
Also I`ve read the wiki about paint marks and ratings, but had a look at one I took from the `87 camper and it has a blue and a yellow mark on it, does anyone know what this means?

Mine was a bit saggy as well so I got new standard rear springs.
I was surprised to find it's still a bit saggy and worse when I put the bikes on the back. I have a 1.9d tintop...

Thanks for your reply, I`m sure if try harder I`ll find something positive in it. Were they vw springs or aftermarket?

They were aftermarket. Originals are progressive ones, aftermarket are the same thickness all the way to the end...
You could always make a few spacers from a plastic chopping board and use them to jack it up a bit.

I'm saggy at the back too, but not much worse with the bikes on, I don't think. Fairly new standard VW springs, the progressive type, and gives a pretty good ride when loaded like this.

Not the best pic angle to see from, but shows it's not too bad...

Car beside me moved, bear in mind I'm on a bit of a slope, 4 bikes on the back, 7kg gas bottle right at the back of the boot (which obv weighs a lot more than 7 kg, awning and camping stuff in boot

Diesel should have alloy spacer plates under the rear springs, to counter the increased weight of the heavier iron inline engine. They are tapered but nominally around 16mm thick, giving a lift of around 20mm
