Electric Suction Fuel Pump

Been talking to CovKid about converting my Lpg/petrol DG to an electric pump so that switch over is instantaneous. The recommended pump is the Facet posiflow but has anyone any experience of the German made Huco low pressure fuel pump which is suction and designed to fit in the engine bay?

The Huco is more expensive and designed to replace conventional mechanical pumps and the SU pumps fitted on many classic cars. As well as being suction and self priming it switches off if no demand. Wether I fit a Facet or a Huco both will be relay driven and linked to the Lpg/petrol switch control system so 90% of the time the pump will be disabled with no supply present.

I have fitted a few Huco pumps to kit cars no real advantage over a Facet apart from if installation needs the pump has to be mounted above the tank height. Facet pumps are self priming anyway as long as they are installed correctly.

Thanks Bigherb (and Covkid for advice) so go for the Facet and save a bit of cash.

I fitted one of those to my Chevette & found it far too noisy, even with rubber mounts it transmitted the noise into the passenger compartment. I had to take it off.

I have a Facet Silver Top on my kitcar, Huco pump looks similar to that? I'm happy with the Silver Top, on my second in 35 years.
Mounted in engine compartment, can fill 3x40DCOE Webers very quickly.
