Valve timing

I have finally got my replacement JX in and running, it sounds lovely compared with the old engine and is smoke free, but the valve timing sounds like it needs sorting.
I was hoping to either find someone nearby to me (Widnes, NW) to do it for me, but ringing around its either too old or for those that would touch it, they are booked up for weeks.
Next plan was to buy a the vw valve tool - VAG 2078 or HAZET 2574-1 so I can remove the shims without taking off the cam, but it seems like there are none available anywhere in europe, and usa takes too long to ship.
I am off on my hols in a couple of weeks so could do with this sorted.
Is there anyone local to me that may be suitably equipped to do the job (shims etc)
or
Does anyone know of an alternative tool to the Hazet 2574-1 that is readily stocked.
Thanks in advance
