Hi Guys can anyone tell me if and how you can replace a cam follower with engine in and what the procedure is . sorry its on a 1985 19oo water cooled . Have a very bad clacking on no 1. a friend had a look to see if it could just need tighten but it wont and is very wobbly, so he removed it and the pushrod tube. the cam follower you can push down with a screw driver so i take it it is thats not good , so i will order new cam follower and push rod tube . i did look through wiki but didnt find much . they are hydraulic lifters do i order a spring loaded one to replace it . sorry for the long winded thread

Usually they will pump up again after a run
You can buy telescopic push rod tubes to replace the one removed
tappets hook out with a cranked screwdriver
I have a pic somewhere

Wont need this picture then
New cam followers need taking appart, filling with oil and bleeding before fitting
Once in you need to set a preload of two turns from screw touching when the engine is in the right place
its all described in haynes
make sure push rod is seated in follower its a common mistake and can cause damage
Where in soton are you, I'm freementle
