Hi,
Does anyone know if the sump gasket on the final drive unit, 1.9 dg auto, is put on dry or is ' lubricated' before fitting a new one?
Thanks.

Nothing about that in Bentley, but it says the sump bolts should be retorqued twice at 5 min intervals (10Nm).

Yep I've got the bit about torquing. Thanks anyway.
I think it is usually the 'rubber' gaskets/seals that need lubricating. This gasket is card/fibre or whatever.

If you are on about the tin cover for the bottom of the auto diff. I cleaned it up and degreased both the tin bit and the cast housing. Ran a file over the bumps in the tin bit and knocked any dents flat, stuck it on the a gearbox sealant using the standard gasket and left it over night before filling with gear oil. A year on it appears to be OK. I have as yet to do the bottom of the actual auto box but that has a rubber gasket.
