This is more of a going forward technical question for next time.
I replaced my fan belt today and got it from GSF. (Number plate part search, so must be correct one).
What procedure do people use to fit these?
Again today, I had to take off my alternator to get the belt to fit. I couldn't get the belt around the alternator pulley even when on the narrowest setting, as belt so small?
Anyone else have this issue?

Wrong belt , GSF parts search is crap
If you still have your old belt take the number off it , if you don't measure the length around the pulleys with a bit of rope ( 10mm wide )

Thanks for this. Ah right. I think I know what the issue is. I have an upgraded 90A alternator on my van. Not the standard 45/60Amp version!
That is probably why it doesn't stretch over the pulley, as they taking the number plate part reading, assuming it's all standard!

Pulley on the 90 amp Alt is the same.
GSF just got it wrong.
Measure it or buy a brickwerks belt

90A alternator is a larger diameter it needs a larger belt. 1100 as opposed to 1075

The belt that is on is running ok. I'll get a 1100 spare this week.

I know, I know, it's an auxiliary belt, but-

Engine drives belt- belt drives alternator- alternator charges battery- battery powers fan...... it's a fan belt.

By that logic its also a headlight belt, an indicator belt and a horn belt.

If you had elecric seats it would be a seat belt

So what method do you use to replace your seat belt?
Do you go by GSF or do you measure it with a piece of rope?
