Loose wire - best guesses or actual fact welcome

Any ideas for this wire it comes from that white clip. Although I've got a late van the last engine put in was early. Is this a redundant wire from what would have been the second oil pressure sensor or something else? The other brown wire from the white clip disappears under the tinware. Thanks for the help

From the picture it looks like it is the other end of the earth wire running into the white clip. Does your distributor have an earth lug on the outside and is it connected to anything ?

There was an empty spade on the distrubutor but checking on here it seems that's standard. Has my lowly wire defeated the club8090 colony brain?

Are you still stuck with this?

Yep haven't got a clue. It was tucked away out of sight and I hadn't noticed it. It looks like its been pulled or frayed rather than a clean cut

I'm betting that originally the browns were for the low oil pressure switch (under the pushrod tubes) and high pressure switch (under the waterpump/near the crank pulley). At least that's what mine does! They earth through the switches. Can't remember which is normally closed or open though. The one in your photo that is earthed will be to shut the buzzer of doom up!

Not sure that I want it shut up! Now you say it I do remember that during my series of engine swaps when I first got the van that the BOD was disabled. I had a feeling it was something to do with the pressure switches on my original late engine so that would tally. Probably means the loose wire is redundant as I now have an early engine and can be snipped of. Thanks for your advice
