As my rampant pilladge continues I have hit upon the idea of a passenger side interior light. The question is has anyone got or taken out the headlining and if so is there a bracket for the standard light?

this is purely a guess but as they made rhd and lhd i reckon it's more than 50 50 that its there.

I agree, but that headlining looks like it could be tricky, as I poke round I can feel what I think is the bracket but I really want to be sure.

Did mine last year. Tis easy and well worth doing for passenger map reading etc. The hole in the metal work for the light to clip into is there, you just need to cut the lining out in that area (look at the other side to see how much of a hole you need to cut). If I remember I tried to feed a cable down the nearside A pillar but couldnt get it to come out at the bottom as there must be a bend or sommit in the pillar. Ended up feeding a cable over the top of the headliner and connecting it to the existing light on the offside. Was a pain but I did it all without removing any headliner. If you need to do it, remove the rubber around the door opening and I think the headliner is either pushed into a grove and then wedged in with the rubber or there are some small metal clips that need bending out the way. Sorry aint got the pictures to prove it. Got the light fitting from me local VW dealer no problem.
