When we move the gear stick back and forth in our van, we can hear a loud squeeking noise which we think is the gear linkage rubbing against the fuel tank. The gears are also sloppy. Where do I start in terms of replacing the bushes to remedy these problems

(Also the wife finds the noise very embarassing as it is qiute loud, whereas I think it adds character )
