Hi
Finally offering up the inner sill... been longer than I expected, but..
My question is the b post strengthener in the photo, does this attach to the flange on the inner sill or to the 'flat' of the sill..
There was nothing there when I removed it..!
If I offer up the b post cover piece it's hard to tell..
Does it extend to the lower edge of the sill and then be sandwiched between the inner and outer sills??
Also does anyone have any tips on welding the inner sill to the outrigger at the front..
The flange is internal and access is very limited. I don't really want to cut out good steel for access, but might be the only option..?

Go back and look at the Front jacking point discussion, Syncroandy gave a good description and photo of how it should be.

Takes a while to get this bit done.. if mine looks half as good as yours will be happy!!

Just about done the inner sill... talk about an epic job..
Just the rear to tidy up, the can finally get the outer panels on..
Thought would paint red oxide, then seam sealant brushed on, then Stone chip..

Dont forget to do the cut out for the jack to sit up to.

Yep, like to give it a dust of primer as tends to start rusting crazy quick in this weather..
Will always jack using the outrigger though, old habits and all that..
Noticed that the schofields inner sill I bought, with the jacking point already welded in, but the front 'legs' of the jacking point were not welded.. are they supposed to be like this?

Yeah they are just touching the sill as the genuine vw inner sill was. Look on bus-ok.de site and you can see a close up of the area on a nos inner sill. You have to weld the 2 points once fitted.

If I can get out of doing the garden will be finishing off this afternoon

Managed to get an hour....
Sorted the cut out, finished welding the inner support, and the jacking point legs...
Started looking at how the replacement b post cover fits, seems a strange fit u see the the swage line, presume the best way to drill a couple of holes in the upper panel and then plug weld through to the new panel..
Next back to the rear..
Anyone got a picture of how the c post should look..?

turn your welder up fella theres little to no penetration on your spots... you'll end up doing it again soon. (no offence intended)

Cheers, yes, I did today after noticing the same..
Seemed ok on most of the stuff around 1.2mm.. once the material went over 1.5mm needed to turn up.
Think the majority will be ok, the plug welded stuff seems ok.. I redid the b pillar welds earlier..
Got an old welder and it seems the the max setting just blows through the outer panels and the one below doesn't always penetrate properly... annoying..!!

This was some I did earlier with same settings.. def ok

But am always open to advice and help, makes it all easier and I am certain I don't know everything..!!!

When altering your power adjust the wire feed too. Learn to weld that little bit faster when at higher amps and it'll help prevent burning holes in your tin.
