I believe that they should have the higher amp fitted but cannot get at it to see yet.
Same shape across the models I guess?
Cheers

If you mean 2.1 DJ WBX then no the front housing is different. CU standard was 45A, 65A optional.

Thanks for that.
So I need to look for a CU specific model then.
Non listed on Brickwerks?
The 2.1 is an injection but by the sound of it that will not fit anyway.

Yes it only fits the CU or CT engines.
Whats wrong with the old one?

Been told the old one is not giving right voltage and I would like to increase amps.

Output voltage is controlled by the regulator, fit a 14.2V or 14.4V regulator for best performance with modern batteries. Unless you have a lot of extra accessories switched on when running the engine then the 45A is quite capable and also able to charge a leisure battery.
65A alternators are available, anything bigger will tend to overload the drive belt.

^^^ and not forgetting that you are sapping more horsepower with a more powerful alternator.

Good on the both of you for your replies.
I'll look into getting the 14.4 regulator.
Cheers

Even if you were drawing max power 65A instead of 45A, that's 20 amps at 12v. Say the alternator was only 65% efficient at converting engine power into electricity, then that's equivalent to 370 watts, about half a horsepower. Air conditioning on the other hand (not that T3s have it) saps 10 times that amount (via a belt driven pump of it's own rather than the alternator though).
With a lesser load on the alternator (ie batteries charged, lights off etc), then the load on the engine would reduce.
My gf has a wheezy old Mercedes A class. You have to turn the air con off to get up hills! Or rather you did before it broke.
