Gas struts for Reimo roof

Hey, the gas struts in our pop top seem to have gotten stiff with lack of use and with two of them in place we can't sink the roof so I am wanting to get some new ones. I am having a hard time sourcing them though.

Any suggestions where to look? They are 800mm eye 2 eye.

Just had my reimo top up and took some pics of the struts in case the part numbers help... Assuming my reimo is the same as yours.

Thanks. Mine is the kind where the whole roof goes straight up. But it sounds like from SGA that the struts are the same :)

Hi

You could also try a Reimo UK agent - http://www.nomadcampervans.com/reimo/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Their workshop mgr was happy to talk me through the installation process - they are not easy to fit!

Top tip - use a thin webbing strap to compress and hold the strut when fitting. The straps that Fiamma supply with their bike racks are perfect - only 10mm wide. The usual inch wide straps get in the way of the end fittings

Good luck
Jim

Jim, SCA says that the struts are 820mm long. I measure mine as 800mm eye to eye (although they are being replaced) I am wondering if there is a little compression that should be in there, as I can get mine in without shortening them (although it is really hard and takes the mere people)
