Hello - just wondering if anyone has successfully attempted a complete replacement of the fuel breather pipes that link the two fuel expansion tanks with the fuel tank?

My 85 C reg 1.9 DG petrol van has developed a leak in the breather lines when I fill the tank more than 3/4 full. I guess that to replace the breather pipes I've got to drop the fuel tank. Chances are the tank would probably need replacing along with the fuel lines and breather pipes to be on the safe side.

Just wondering if anybody has attempted this and could offer some tips?

Having done this job before, I have to say it's as well to drop the fuel tank.
I know it can appear daunting, but it's quite straight forward and will give you a better understanding of your fuel system.

Gives you an opportunity to clear muck from top of tank, waxoiling/etc everything above and around.
Lots of information in Wiki and previous posts, do a search.
Brickwerks sell the cross over pipe and fittings.

The cross over pipe on mine was secured to the chassis with a pipe clip, smack in the middle of pipe run, which meant dropping the tank.
If yours has been replaced before and pipe clip not reinstalled, then yes can be done, but a real ball ache to do with contorting yourself under wheel arch and turning the air blue!
