Early Waterpump bolts/studs

I'm just in the middle of updating and replacing my early cooling system.

After removing the pump it came out with 2 seized up threads with nuts on, one stud remained attached to engine but the other 2 threads came out, they don't look broken, do you think this has been re-tapped? I thought the studs were fixed to the engine, just wondering best method of reassembly. I understand that one should be a bolt with the other 2 studs? Probably just my ignorance!

It should be three studs I think - studs prevent wear on the alloy threads in the engine casing. But nothing holds them in, other than perhaps a bit of threadlock, which will likely give way before a rusted-on nut. That's probably why your studs have pulled out.

Fit new studs, nuts and washers, or clean up the ones you've got. Torque the nuts to 20 Nm (15 ft lb).

Great makes sense just released the nut from the stud. All ok.

Many thanks
