Matching numbers engine

Hi guys ,don't know if this is the right section but here goes,my 83 Devon show 33000 miles ,but no history ,there are some tell tale signs ie foot pedal rubbers little wear ,seats still nice and firm steering wheel as new ,miles reading nice and straight,my question is how will I know if it is still the original engine ,it really is silky smooth and quiet I'm only the 4 th owner bought it of a mate who hardly used it first owner did most of the mileage ,sorry about the long winded post ,but a gots to know cheers rob.

Depends on which engine you have Aircooled, watercooled petrol/Diesel

It's water cooled 1.9 petrol cheers.

It is on the face of the crankcase underneath the breather tower.

Ok checked for engine no ,ain't got one ,it been rubbed of or filed off ,just a shiny plate with nothing on it ,could this be a recon,any way it is running sweet .

Yes it is not original.
