So I have a 1.9dg (petrol) with a Webber carb. Just got back from Kent at the world rally cross. What a day!!!! But got home went to take my brothers home and it's a non starter!!!! Left it over night and nothing.
On way home last night it was getting hotter than normal, water level is fine. Had this before but it stared after an hour. I have a checked and cleaned plugs , good spark. I'm thing fuel pump or carb set up? Thoughts please. I'm in Leigh on sea so a set up on carbs could be due???
Thank you beautiful people.

Fuel pump on its way out maybe? Remove fuel line into carb from pump and get someone to turn ignition key. You should see good flow of fuel. Sometimes the mechanical fuel pumps can struggle to pull fuel up. Maybe even consider one way valve on the intake side so the carb. will always have a teaspoon of fuel in it to help starting. For the time being though pop a teaspoon on petrol straight into the Venturi of the carb. It'll fire right up.

The Venturi? Sounds like a space age gladiator!! I'm not familia with working on the Webber carb. One way valve defo sounds good idea. Who sells a good one? Do you think a new pump would help? Thing with the pump is I don't get any troubles any other time and it doesn't drive lumpy?

So I've taken off the inlet fuel hose from the pump and turned over the van and there is only very little suction in it. How much should there be? Should suck the skin gently?

For the cost, got to be worth replacing the fuel pump and the fuel pump push rod. There should be a healthy squirt of fuel when turning over.
