Brake servo question...

Had a slightly odd issue with the brake servo the last few times I started the van after it had stood for a little while.

Essentially, on starting, the brake servo doesn't appear to be working - the brake pedal is hard, and the brakes not very effective. After a few minutes the pedal, goes back to normal, and the brakes are good.

So, my initial thoughts were that it might just be a vacuum leak so am planning to check the pipe to the servo, but I wondered if there might be other prime suspects worthy of investigation?

With the engine off, pump the pedal a couple of times and then press with medium pressure and hold it. Start the engine and you should feel the pedal gradually falling away from your foot as the vacuum assist kicks in.

OK, cool :ok

If the pedal doesnt gradually fall away, is that indicative of the lack of vacuum or of the servo being faulty?
