My 1.9 dg early watercooled van seems a bit sluggish, but other day it started to cut out and would kangaroo down road then would be fine,I'm thinking strip carb and give it a clean or buy a new one ,is it an easy job cleaning carb or a job for an expert.

it depends on your skills, not difficult but you need to be meticulous, clean and methodical.
James Akers has done a few youtube vids, easy to find on google have a watch before you decide.

I'm quite mechanically minded but I'm always careful with carbs. James Akers videos are so helpful. I watch them a couple times and have done a little rebuild on my Carb and it's transformed my engines performance.
