Hi everyone

So finally got the courage to begin cutting rot out of my van. Scary:

You will note that I have cut a slot out to inspect the rust above the rear jacking point. Plan to do boatbuilders repair on this with 3mm steel:

Any suggestions on how to deal with the rust behind the sliding door rail greatly appreciated

Big cuts there no doubt! But it doesn't look too bad inside - that internal panel, C pillar and rear end section are all looking ok from here....

Question - how are your window seals? I reckon a lot of our low end rust stems from leaking windows which provide this void with moisture and it all rusts from the inside out accelerated by this leak..... Thats why mine needs the same (if not much higher cut!)

Looking forward to seeing to patch up process. Good luck & keep the photos coming!

Hi slider

There are few small rust bubbles under the window so will deal with that too. Need to remove the sliding door rail to deal with the rot underneath. Patched a bit of the sill in front of the rear jacking point with 3mm steel. Welding overhead on your back is not easy when a novice.
