1.6td diesel pump alignment

Hi all

Having a bit of a mare with my cam belt and pump. The tracking seems off on the pump and I can't seem to adjust the pump enough to correct it. Have slackened the bracket to the side of alternator and the rear bolt that connects the pump body to engine bracket. Both are slotted but will not shift enough to sort it. The pump pulley has no movement at the bearing closest to it, but if I push toward the engine on one side of it whilst pulling on the other side I can feel movement possibly in the bearing at the cab end of the pump. Could this be the problem or am I adjusting the tracking wrongly
Cheers m.

You need to loosen the two bolts ( under the pump ) that hold the pump bracket to the engine block and push the bracket either up or down ,so that the back of the bracket slides up or down the block.
Moving the bracket up will make the belt move towards one edge of the pump sprocket and moving the bracket down will make the belt move towards the opposite edge of the pump sprocket!
Good luck.

Hi Mike,my pumps bearing has a bit of play and I was thinking about a new pump, but luckily saw the info on an American site, like you was well pleased with the outcome.
