I have a small water leak which I can't trace.going to try an additive see if it will seal it. Any recommendations?

Hmm you might be opening a can of worms with the leak fix.
Spend some time feeling around the joints for wetness
I will admit they are hard to spot

How much coolant is being lost and over what time

I'd agree with that, far better to find out where the leak is and then deal with it. As far as I am aware, the newer and more efficient additives (K-Seal for instance) don't work on plastic or rubber components only metal so you could be throwing money away anyway.
IF it does turn out to be a small hole in the radiator then K-Seal works very well, anything else and i'd be fixing it properly.

Cheers guys. Checked all main joints replaced couple of pipes that were obviously leaking water pump to r hand cylinder head and water pump pipe behind pulleys. Got an obvious sweat somewhere. Constant drop from bottom of engine. About 1/4 tank over a week. Will keep searching.

Leak seems to be coming from a small round recess behind offside pushrod tubes. Will try post pics later. But any ideas welcome meantime
Cheers.

Just out of interest:
As a youngster I drove a what was a Frod 1,100 cc side valv engined van with what was called a Shooting brake body similar to the ones seen on th Morris Minor.
It suffered from periodic bouts of slow water leaks which I could never quite fix. Then one day I boiled it over on the way to work where I refilled it with water from the River Lea next to my workplace. As I decanted the river water into the radiator I noticed millions of little wriggly wormy things in the water but carried on anyway. To my surprise this cured the leaks so I made a point of topping up with fresh(?) River Lea water every time. 8)
I can only imagine that the leaks were sealed with weeny little dead bodies which became jammed in the leaks.
I believe that this is a similar action to that product which we used to call S..t stick which were like sausage shaped bars with a consistency of Oxo Cubes which one crumbled up before putting in radiator. Anyone remember them?
