I have just done an oil change and replaced the oil pressure relief valve as I was there. Bloody thing is leaking now! I bought a new plunger, spring and washer thingy from VW hertitage. The guy said that that they didn't have the usual washer so sent me what looks like a flat alu washer.

I guess it doesn't crush enough to create a seal, so I am back to draining it again and refitting with the correct washer. I have 2 questions please:

1) does anyone know the part number for the correct washer thingy?
2) given the plug has an extra wide slot screw head, how do you do the bloody thing up and how do you know how tight it should be? Is there some useful, unexpensive tool to use?

Many thanks
Chris

Try a thick sheet of metal and some grips, not sure on torque Nm though?

Thanks. why on earth did they make it with a slot when a hex head would have been so much simpler|

yes piece of sheet steel filed with a curve on the end to match the slot and an adjustable spanner, can't do it too tight as the metal bends.
