Can anyone advise how to test the Auto Advance unit that sits on top of the diesel fuel pump on my 1.6 TD JX?
How can I tell if it is working correctly?
Any mods etc ?

Thanks (excuse the pun!) in advance :D

Could you describe it? Or a photo?

Do you mean the LDA?

If so: https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... e#p8007862" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is really common that the diaphragm is broken in the LDA on JX TD engines. When the LDA is not working the van will really struggle up hill. With a working LDA the difference is huge.

The timing auto advance mechanism is on the bottom on the pump

If you are talking about the LDA then there is a vid:

Thanks for the input guys!
What does LDA stand for ?
Ref Dave Friday, there is a good photo posted above by nrgsmith from Synchronised that shows the LDA Unit, the round drum bit is where the bellows/springs are. My 1.6 JX TD looks just the same.
I now need to do some testing :rofl

LDA = Ladedruckanreicherung

and if you put that into google translate you get boost pressure accumulation.

Ah, should have known that!

Have now tested mine and seems it aint working at all, next question:-

Where can you get replacement internal service parts i.e. 'O' rings, spring(s), diaphragm etc. I see Brickwerks has a complete New LDA Unit at £160, but surely a service kit can be obtained from some source ?

LDA is a not serviceable item. Altough it can be done DIY. You will need some nitrile diaphragm material.
I found this by google:

I bought a serviced LDA on eBay from a seller in Germany. It was part exchange. Cheaper than in the UK and works fine.

I got one in 2014 from:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Membrandose-LDA- ... 1207273700" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?

It was a lot cheaper in 2014, now it is not much cheaper than brickwerks and with brickwerks you don't have to bother with part exchange.

As ZsZ says it may be possible to repair if you get the parts and search for instructions on how to do it...

Steve Heim does a kit for about €30

Needs some skill and care to fit this but it maies a workable LDA
