5 speed gear box problem

Hi there 80-90 folks,
Ive got a very very simple question thats totally stumped me! Ive been an owner and lover of T25 (T3) for the last 15 years!
I bought an ex-german army Doka last October and have thoroughly enjoyed driving it every day since.
Along with the general up keep of the van, I decided it was time to check the gear box oil level, only to find no side inspection and fill hole! My Doka is running a 5 speed box with a 1Y 1.9 TD engine. I'm concerned about not been able to check the level of the gearbox oil and what gearbox has been installed. The code number on the gearbox looks like BH 16 07 4. Any help alive will be gratefully received. Cheers James

There is a 8H 5 speed box manufactured 83 onwards, the stamped in codes arent always easy to read . Where are you looking for the fill hole, it should be on the right hand side.

Hi multisi, thanks for your reply. I looked at the gearbox codes online and confirmed a 8H in the Doka.
I'm embarrassed to say I simply couldn't see the fill plug due to the dirt on the side of the gearbox. I undid the plug and popped in around 250 ml of gearbox oil to bring it up to the correct level. Job done! However driving home the gearbox popped out of fifth gear, I put it back in and it drove fine for a while and then popped out again!
Anyone have any advice on this? Cheers
