Evening-just a quick one

Under the van this evening having a root about like you do and noticed the rubber boot on the clutch s c is torn. I replaced the slave just under 2 years ago, can the boot be replaced by removing the old one and the rod without taking the whole thing off the van again?
cheers, David.

depends there are two designs, one of them the boot is simply interference fit on the push rod and the cylinder so just pulls off with the pushrod and you fit new one and insert the rod, the other design the boot is held in place by boot clips which aren't easy to release without damaging them so can be hard to reuse the clips
new rubber just isn't as good as it used to be, no wonder old gimp masks are sought after

Thanks for the swift reply Aidan, i'm 99% sure mine is one without the clips. I'll get under again tomorrow to check and then get a replacement. Is silicone spray any good at prolonging the life of gimp mas...i mean boots or are they best left alone?
