Starting problem - update

I recently had a starting problem, which was a pain. It turned out to be the main cabling which was replaced and all the connections have been cleaned up. The battery is fine and everything was working fine until today. Turned the key and nothing happened - it did not turn over. Tried it again and it burst into life. Later I tried starting it 3 times and it would not start. On the 4th turn of the key it burst into life. So, would I be right in suspecting the ignition switch or maybe the ignition amplifier? I have a new starter motor installed as well. Cheers.

could be the ignition switch could be the starter motor, you need to check the exiter is being switched by the ignition switch if it is then likely the starter, new doesn't mean it's any good unfortunately, I've had 2 exchange refurbished units from a certain big supplier that either didn't work or failed or were intermittent soon after, the ones with a hella sticker on from eastern Europe are quickly tested I think and if they work are painted black and that's about it

This happend to me, turned out to be a loose connection on the wiring plug on the ignition switch. Take off the cowling by steering wheel. Pull plug out to check all is well. On mine one was loose so it would turn over sometimes and other not at all
Another time it happend and there was a loose connection on starter motor.
2 places to check
sorry, just realised I said pretty much exactly the same

Thanks for the info guys.
I took the van into the local Auto electrician's shop yesterday, to identify and solve the problem. I told them that I thought that it might be the ignition switch, as the rest of the cabling and starter motor etc had been replaced. They checked the whole system and could find no problems. They replaced the ignition switch this morning and the van is starting first time again. Fingers crossed. I've ordered a spare ignition switch from Brickwerks.
