Quick question, can you bench test the 12v heating element, just want to male sure it is that that has failed and not the relay.
Talking of which, is it just a simple 4 spade 30amp job or is it a bit more specialised?

TIA
Jon

Just test the resistance - would expect low 1Ω -3Ω. Usually 12v elements are 10A-12A range not 30A.
Don't know where 4 spades come in though unless you are digging tons of spuds up. :D

Finally, photobucket has relinquished it's hold on my pics!
The wiring is the heating element, gone all brittle and cracked so a new one on order from Gunzle.
The relay is just a standard 30 amp job with the 4 connections, plenty of spares of that type.
(how do you test a relay?)
