Hi, I'm just about to get my very first t25. someone has mentioned that you need special additional insurance for breakdowns as most garages won't fix them.

Is this accurate? is standard breakdown cover enough? any advice appreciated!

Nonsense! Fear mongering :-) I wouldn't travel far without some decent cover though. Most road side mechanics I've met have been more than happy to see to it.

And most can fix it or diagnose the problems. I'm with jk added brake down extra £80. Peace of mind

I have heard some cover companies won't offer cover to 10 year and older but i've not come across it personally.

I've had no problem with insurance and covering the modifications that have been made, and the and full european an uk recovery is very reasonable, about £80-90 I think.

We encountered a few companies that wouldn't cover vehicles older than 10 years when we were looking for cover for our trip to Iceland last year. It's not something we've ever encountered for UK cover though.

Most important thing is to have recovery.
If the breakdown/recovery service can't fix it with what they have in their van it is probably best get it home and fix or get it fixed under your control by someone of your choice. Fiddling by the uninitiated can run you into big bills.
AA used not to cover vehicles for European recovery but do so now.
