New Fan Blower Issue

Hi there

Last night I tackled the job of replacing a seized fan blower with a new unit and switch that are Febo ones from JK.

The issue seems to be that it only works when on full speed (click 3 i think it is). Nothing on speeds 1 or 2??
Anybody know what the cause may be?

Thanks

Resistors not connected in the circuit? Or blown?

You don't mention resistors.Did you buy these when you bought the motor.?

Firstly, go grab your Haynes manual and turn to 12.38 - (wiring diagrams) - its towards the back. See V2 bottom left? thats your blower motor.

The wire below it is the earth (brown) thats going to earth crown. Just above the motor there are two other wires that connect to it, but further up there are three that come out of E9 (the fresh air/heater blower switch) - the three wires for the three different speeds. By default the motor runs full pelt so they added Dr Frankenstein resistors (N23) to slow it down for the two other speeds.

Basically these are the three speeds and the wires are coloured thus: 1) ge (stands for yellow and motor would be flat out) 2) ge/sw (yellow and black - motor at medium speed)- power now going through one resistor 3) ws (white - motor at slowest speed) - power now going through TWO resistors

Did you connect both yellow wires to the motor?

No didn't change the resistors for the Brickwerks replacement kit.

Have just ordered it, is is easy enough to swap out?

Ok I have all 3 speeds working now since I swapped out the old resistor.

Now I am just missing the ducting/hose that runs from the fan blower ousing to the dash vents.

It is the smaller one, normally paper type rather than the plastic one.

Anybody know the diameter of that smaller hosing?

Thanks

Measure the ends that you are attaching it to!
