What's the best way of stopping rattles from glovebox, front plastic panel, and dashboard?. The the surface of the roads around where I live has not been repaired for years and the rattling as I go over potholes is driving me bonkers.philmcC

Turn your stereo up

If I fixed one rattle I would only notice another, but I must admit my dashboard doesn't rattle so what's loose.

little strips of self adhesive foam on contact surfaces, there should be some foam tape applied in various places by the factory, that helps, the glove box catch and hinge can be adjusted, wires can be cable tied up, ashtray replaced with something more useful, ensure all the four lugs for the pod are intact or fashion repairs from ali strip or similar, check that everything is actually tight as the dash was probably taken out during the screen repairs and refitted and alignment of the plastic bits relative to the metal bits can be quite crucial as things flex and rub, but I know what you mean by annoying and I drive without the radio on largely these days and listen to the vehicle

Had a new rattle recently, was a loose connector that I disturbed rattling against the centre plastic trim over the air vents, made a hell of a din, never would have believed it could make so much noise.

My last mystery rattle that I only heard when breaking hard or pulling away sharply turned out to be two mugs I had left in the sink.

Old hard tyres or too higher pressure can also increase vibration.

Just put an ad in wanted for an ashtray, don't smoke any more so wondered what you'd suggest for the space

I keep meaning to get around to making a docking station for our sat nav, with all of the cables hidden.

Hadn't seen that. The last owner had a hole cut in the display for a rev counter. So I think I'll stick with ashtray or dash tidy

Removed the plastic panel on the steering column. The plastic mount for the Terry clip that goes onto the steering column was broken. Repaired with superglue and made a more robust mount for the Terry clip. Once reassembled rattling about 80% better. Will have a go at the glove box next!.philmcC
