I want replace my rusty lower tailgate edge, does anyone know if a repair panel is available? Or is it a case of making up a strip from scratch?

best option would be to replace the tail gate if its bad with a better one from an import , plenty on e bay .

Definitely just make something. Should be simple and won't cost a fortune like replacing it will. Repair/ reuse/recycle should always be the first choice in classic car ownership!
E D I T: repairing won't necessarily be cheaper if you can find a colour match and just bolt off/bolt on. Never easier either but it is worth doing.

Thanks for the input, was really after a repair panel but could make a repair strip and weld it on. The corners had rust holes when i got the van and the rust isnt too bad on the lower edge but keeps coming back after treatment so its got to go

Also the rest of the tailgate is ok, windows aperture etc so I'd rather repair it

Here are a couple of pics of my tailgate edge, the rust has come back again which is annoying...
There is a small hole in each corner that also needs sorting.
