How to............. Extra spot/driving light wiring.

Hi guys.
I've fitted a light bar with 4 driving/spot lights to the front on my Syncro.
Lights are wired and have been fed to behind fuse box.
The neutrals are earthed and the lives brought to a heavy duty relay I already had.
I'd like to switch driving lights on/off with the highbeam stork switch.
Question is..........
How do I make these connections?
Where do people reckon I should takes these feeds from?
Pics would be great.
Thankyou.

Hi karl
The relay will have 4 termials thes are live or ing live. Earth. Feed to the lights And a trigger. There are several places that the trigger can be sourced from depending on where the relay is going to be located. In my opinion you should mount the relay on an oe mount above the fuse box as vw intended.
If this is where you end up then pull the fuse board down from the clips and look for the output wires from the fuse box to the front lights. I cant rember as its been a while but your looking for a yellow or white wire 1 coulor is main beam the other is high beam. There will be 2 of each colour. 1 for each headlight. Cut and splice and insulate the wire and route it to the relay trigger terminal .Depending on the loads it may be required to have 2 realys in which case you can wire the reals and lights on the left and right sides accordingly.

4 spots = 240 watts approx ....20 amps continuous...that's some heavy amps; make sure your relay is a good quality 40 amp (or above) unit and connections are preferably soldered using appropriate wiring and fuse.

Cheers for replies.
Anyone got pic of the wires Neil is talking about?
Do you think I should run a fused wire direct from battery for feed?
:ok

Sorry, spotlights aren't legal?
Or the switching isn't legal?

I think Andy is assuming that by you using the term 'light bar' you are mounting it at roof level.
There is a legal maximum height for headlights and although I can't remember the figure off the top of my head, it won't be much higher than the standard van lights. If the lights are mounted at lower grille level and switched (as you intend) by main beam, then I think they should be OK.

Under the steering column is where I picked up the wires from the H/L stalk to tap into for my relays.

Under this black sheath is where you'll find the two wires.
