Petrol to diesel glow plug lights

Ok I have an 83 Westie and I'm considering selling it cause there's to many quirky issues with it and I'm starting to hate it. It's imho a beautiful van so Firstly I'm going to try fix a few bits to see can I rekindle my love for the aul bitch. It's been converted from petrol to a 1.9 1y diesel.
My clocks are giving me "pooh" at the moment and I'm thinking of changing for a new set.
I'm kinda thinking of maybe changing for a diesel set so that I have a glow plug light and I'd like to get rid of the push button glow plug switch off my dash and have it working from the ignition switch.
Firstly is this possible and secondly can anyone point me in the direction of a guide for this or a list of the parts that are needed.
