Chassis leg repair behind rear turret

Hi All,

I've been slowly working through the rust on my van without many questions as so many of the repairs are covered in detail already.

I am stuck on the best approach to tackling rust around the rear suspension turret as per photo.

Can I cut back the suspension turret and get at it from the side the photo was taken or cut a hole behind. If it's the latter then do in need additional bracing.

Thanks

Mark

Assuming the rest of the leg is good and i mean GooD then cut the turret off and dont worry take the leg side of along with it, then remake the leg, clean the turret up in the vice etc, drill it for puddle welds and re attach, i would of course make up a brace or something similar to bolt to the turret and the inner arch etc to use as an alignment jig when refitting . though its not critical to 5mm or so

Thanks, I have repaired parts of the chassis leg already. Will be solid by the time I'm done - don't think replacements available

Weather has been shocking lately so progress slow as I'm outside. I ended up cutting the turret and re welding so alignment wasn't disturbed.

Two of the holes for plug welds were too high but lightens the van a bit.
