Hi, It seems my radiator fan doesn't want to come on when in traffic and the temp gets up there. I tried putting power straight on the back of the fan and it works perfectly, so no problems there. I used the original negative in the plug for the test so no damage to that wire. It's simply there is no power coming to it. Not sure where the sensor is located or if that's even the problem. I have it on a switch temporarily. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Aye. If its not anything basic, you'll prob need to swap out sensor for a new one. Its on the right at the bottom of the rad, looking from the front with bottom grill removed. The sensor has to handle a particularly hostile environment and they don't generally last long. Easy to swap out though - just move quick and you don't even need to bleed the system. Changed mine twice in last 9 years.

Ah brilliant, hopefully it's just that then. At what temp do they usually kick in? Maybe I should get a lower one for peace of mind, or will it be kicking in constantly? Though it won't be doing much work until I change my thermostat. Well I'm pretty sure that's the culprit to my needle only reading just over the first white box on the temp gauge. Unsure where the stat is located on these too. Only just entered the t25 world as I'm usually running American motors so excuse my ignorance with the German stuff.

Stock one does the job perfectly (if its working). If it does worry you, you could always fit a manual overide switch inside. I've got one - fits right below headlight switch where my dimmer switch used to be. Not essential by any means but does give a secondary means, known in the T3 circuit as a "chicken switch". Chances are, replacing the sensor will sort it all out.

Yeah I did that on another car. I put an adjustable stat in it through a relay and fuse so I can choose the temp I want it to kick in then put in an overide switch which bypasses everything just incase and an LED that comes on when the fan is on as the car is so loud you can't hear the fan. It's a pretty nice set up but required a lot of slinging wires about. Don't really fancy doing it again.
