Hi everybody. Hope you're all enjoying the run up to Christmas. I have a question for you all. I'm South London based and looking for someone to work with who's knowledgeable, near enough to get to and has a good reputation. Does anyone have any suggestions? Essex, Kent or Berkshire are all possibles. Interested to hear your recommendations. Thanks in advance for your time.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just been in touch with Harry Harpics but will share the info if I hear of someone else looking for a mobile mechanic. Have a good day. Cheers.

How did you get on with Harry Harpics?
Dropped my van in there earlier this year for a service and check over.

Very nice and knowledgeable, although mainly deal with the air-cooled stuff, they do have a doka as their company 'advertising' vehicle.

My service/check over was very reasonable and less than I expected.

My only complaint was that I asked them to do the tie-rod bushes (was an advisory on last M.O.T, although not urgent) these were rusted and obviously more difficult to get undone than expected. They ended up only doing one side and gave me the remaining unfitted bush and told me to re-book the van in to have the other side fitted at a later date!!!

The above aside, they are knowledgable and very open if you need to discuss things and ask for advice etc... I would recommend them.

What is it you need doing?

Dropped my van off with them earlier. Spoke to Paul and met Bo. One things clear. They definitely care about the work they do. Also really knowledgeable on T25's. Thanks again for the recommendation

Bit of a thread resurrection but my experience with Harry Harpics was very different.

I called them and booked them to change the second gear brake band piston seal. They had thought they were doing the pan! They dropped the valves out and didn't know how to put them back in so I had to send them extracts from Bentleys. They told me to pick the van up but it wouldn't reverse properly. They then reversed it again and again despite the entire van shuddering and loud noises from the gear box. More trips down and various appointments cancelled by them. Eventually they got it to work and got me home. When I went into reverse outside my house, the Gearbox began to judder. More trips up and down to get it put right and finally gearbox failed totally on a steep hill with my family on board. They washed their hands of the problem and referred my on to another garage they had subcontracted to repair it. That garage told me to sell the van on.

Harry Harpics told me they didn't make much money from the business. The £1200 it cost me for a broken gearbox must have helped their bank balance. They refused utterly to refund me anything. Do not take your automatic gearbox to them. Their Facebook site castigates poor engine repairs done by other companies, its a shame they don't follow their own advice.
