Syncro on the telly

Did anyone else spot the syncro camper that dr Alice Roberts was driving on the "Coasts" programme a while back. Looked like a South African one to me, bright green and right hand drive.

Just got my 16" hightop on the road with new DJ engine, 1000 miles done now and she is bedding in nicely. I have a clip of her wading in a ford near Just Kampers which I will put on U Tube when I can work out how to E D I T it down a bit.

If anyone wants a bulkhead with sliding window I am just about to cut it out. free to a good home. if someone wants it i will cut it out more sympathetically!!!

Cheers Simon.

Hi Simon, welcome

Hemyock eh?

Not far from Dr Alice Roberts and Partner's Syncro if I'm not mistaken, or at least the guy that services it... CJ @ Kentisbeare Business Park

Yes, the lovely lady herself, let alone the syncro has been a hot topic since she popped up on Coast

Just waiting for them to join up and come along to a Syncronauts off-road meeting... as you might. First event of the year, April 1st weekend near Stourport on Severn .

I might have guessed Cj would have known about Dr Alice's syncro!! But have not seen it around here. Seen a grey panel syncro with 15" wheels up on the Quantocks though. Dr Alice is a bit of a sort isnt she!!

Do you have to book for Coney Farm as I intend to go. Was'nt there limited numbers last year.??

My last syncro was a D reg caravelle ex milton keynes demo that I used to take off-roading around Ashridge Forest near you HarryMann. But that was back in 1992, and it died in a big accident on the M1 at Hemel. No injuries though, but it wrote off a 7.5 tonne truck!! The twisted shell went to Archy at Ivinghoe to be made into a 4x4 beach buggy!!

CJ did a great job on installing the engine, and seems to provide an 0800 type phone in service on anything syncro related judging by the number of calls he gets.

Im thinking this van is Bristolian; it has had various works done in Bristol establishments up until quite recently; could also be that Coast is a BBC Bristol production and the van and owner visit often?

Yes, all Syncronauts off-road events have to be pre-booked... can't remember turning any bookings down so far, but we live in hope :)

Right, that's a 5 minute huff and puff away actually so I often go cycling around up there. Wasn't that a wee bit naughty even then
Can be lovely up there for somewhere so close to London, and of course the start of the Ridgeway just edges into it at Ivinghoe Beacon.

I think the Bristol connection might be Dr Alice's Post Grad studies, maybe domicile and the Coast production team too, looks a nice syncro alright.

It would have been if I hadnt been working for the National Trust at the time. They used to have a lot of T3 syncro crewcabs. Now only a couple of T4 syncro left. It always amused me watching 3 blokes and chainsaws trying to fit into a landrover 90 when I would always choose the syncro

Who or what is Dr Alice Roberts?

An academic wizkid who you really don't want to know about Andrew, trust me

... she just happens to be young, good looking, a natural presenter, has a handful of higher degrees and shares a Syncro with her hubby not unlike yours in colour* and it pops up on the TV in 'Coast' from time to time.

So really, she's done more to raise the profile of T25s and Syncros in 5 minutes than any of us here in as many years... if that's considered a good thing?

* apparently women can distinguish 16 million different shades of green, or so I was told (by a man who's well qualified to know)

Ok, OK, maybe he said 16,000. Men about three, light green, green and dark green, some possibly lime :?

P.S I will drop that window round on Monday Cj. Hows that tacho coming along??

Sorry to be so ignorant but how do you book for Coney Farm??
