Hi all I bought a van recently under the assumption the engine was cooked. I planned to do a gti conversion however I Came across a Jx head cheap so took the plunge. I'm just not sure if it's fixable, the van starts and ticks over but there's water and steam coming out of the side of the cylinder head at the rear gasket area. Also it has very little power just about enough to move it. Do you think the block may be damaged if so how could I tell? Would appreciate the help. Thanks

Thanks how would I tell if the block is knackered? Is it the same process as with the head flat bar across the block?
Thanks

Yes,I had a slight water leak from the side of the head, when I took the head bolts out I found one snapped bolt!
The head was ok but the gasket was full of holes!!( looked like mice had been eating it!)
