Injector burning up

One of the tips of the injectors on my 2.1 MV keeps melting! It's the third time it's happened in 8 years with 3 different injectors - but all in the same position on the block. Any ideas what could be causing it? Usually running off LPG, but try to keep the petrol side running and clear too.

Aren't they switched earth?
Return path/earth pants so resistance is bumming the injector?

Hi Elvis - it's the petrol end that's burning up - acting like a flamethrower.

I doubt if it is electrical as the earth is switched though the ECU. More lightly a very fine leak on the connection to the head, if you have a very small hole on the head seat it acts like a very small flame througher but only on compression

I'm going to get them refurbished by the guys in Hull, will send them the old seals too, so they can be replaced.

Have you done a compression check ? If the inlet valve wasn't seating wouldn't you get some hot gas going the wrong way ?

Just out of interest what's a reconditioned injector worth?
and what type are they?
Top feed rail mounted injectors -- £14.40 each inc VAT
Hose type injectors -- £16.80 each inc VAT
Side feed injectors -- £21.60 each inc VAT (Leave seals and filters in place)
Single Point Injectors -- £30.00 each inc VAT (Leave seals and filters in place)

Runs fine on gas - on petrol, when the tip has melted, it's like a dodgy old lawnmower!

Bosch 0280150206 - same as on some old volvos. Worth reading some of the old volvo stuff regards problems.

reconditioned 25 quid means an unknown one is worth very little.
