Yep I'm a bit stupid ( and a gambler!);
The brake warning light had been flashing at odd times ( low brake fluid? ) I said to my daughter " it's ok the clutch goes first when the fluid gets low"
This am no clutch!!!check the fluid,realy low! Clutch bleed nipple rounded off! Used Molies,came undone!
Bled clutch with help of daughter.
Note to self,what are warning lights for?

2 months later...

Anyway turns out the warning light connection was also faulty, I never bothered to find out why the fluid was really low last time, never mind I thought, " it's ok the clutch goes first when the fluid gets low"

Well the clutch went on a steep down hill rapidly followed by the brakes, if it wasn't for the slow moving truck in front who knows what would have happened......
