Only noticed today! On each cab door pillar ther is an oblong shaped hole that gives access to behind the water tank cap ( nearside ) and petrol cap ( drivers side ) Looks to me that there should be a covering thingee for these holes? Or are they supposed to be left open? If there should be coverings what are they called and where can I get two?

Thanks ( in anticipation )

They are part of the ventilation system. The air is supposed to flow out of the front of the door, where the groove in the bodywork starts. and the oblong holes allow the air to be withdrawn from the rear of the van.

Yes, the Caravelles have plastic grills with brush round them to seal with the door when it is closed.

The holse is a useful place to squirt waxoil into the pillar base.

can you still buy these grills or do you have to resort to breakers?

Go to the breakers, if your buying other items you'll probably get them 'thrown in' with the price. Mine came off a T3 bus.
