Just had the van sprayed and looking to get some nice new straight bumpers (letting the rest of the van down now!!)

Was thinking of fitting some reverse sensors into the bumpers so they remain straight!!!!!

Any advice PLEASE on which sensors to fit?

Must be suitable for the metal bumpers!!!
My bumpers also have the rubber impact strip (Westfalia Club Joker) but I supposed this doesn't have to be fitted to the new bumpers?

Just got around to fitting some to my van.Dont worry about the metal bumper the sensors are all plastic.Most come with a hole cutter.You can get some with a dash display but not sure the wire would be long enough for these vans,i placed the control box behind the offside lamp unit and the beeper under one of the rear units.My kit is like this.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REVERSING-PAR ... 0661224258" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I bought an electronic cheapo set up from flea bay, they work fine but as Rob said the wires are not long enough for the bus. I had to extend then by about a metre.

I bought a reverse camera with a small screen. I find it more useful than sensors. The camera is part of a number plate holder so it's literally a case of taking plate off and fitting the number plate holder. The wires need to be lengthened the same as the sensors as they are designed for cars I guess.

Think it was £15 all in from eBay.

Am I being a bit thick here? I've just had a look at some reversing camera kits that seem to double as an interior (windscreen) mirror. Is this legal? i.e. can you REPLACE an interior rear view mirror with a screen? Obviously you'd have to have the screen on all the time.

You don't need to have an interior mirror as long as you've got two exterior (door) mirrors.

It only works with the camera screen when you select reverse, the rest of the time it is just a mirror

I originally had a rear view mirror one but then I decided I would prefer a small screen. Tucked on my dashboard a and pops up at the push of a little button.

I wired mine to be switched on so I could use it as I drove down the motorway

This is basically the same as what I have. I kinda fitted it into my dashtidy but it's too dark to photo it.

So the wiring is quite simple.
1.
A video lead from camera to screen: (Yellow phono lead) as others have said probably requires lengthening to reach dash area of van.
There is the wireless option (generally my experience and others I have spoken to its not great! prob again due to distance and range of the bluetooth/RF connection)
2.
The power 12v lead: 2 options here ...either permanently on, taken from the rear light cluster 12v light feed (which is live even when ignition is off i.e lights remain on!) OR
switched on when the reverse gear is selected, power taken from the reverse light 12v feed (which is only live when in reverse gear)

If you were wiring up the rear view mirror camera - you would prob go with option 2 (normal mirror until reverse is selected then the video image will appear on the mirror)

To be honest Im not sure how good the rear view mirror screens are - sounds good but the image quality will prob be quite poor and obviously small? - (someone with more knowledge/experience best advice?)

Im thinking of going with standard beeping rear reverse sensors and also a camera but wired to the stereo screen which will override any other image with the reverse camera image but only when reverse is selected.

I have a dash cam rear view mirror, the image stays on for 2 mins then goes off. The mirror works perfect day and night.
When the image goes it carries on recording without eanything on the screen.
It's personal thing, but I don't like things in my vision ie sat navs etc.

Do you have pictures on how you did the wiring from the mirror into (I presume) the roof?
