Hi hope someone can help. I've noticed there are different types of engine bars on the diesel. Some
Contain bushes and some don't. Anyone have any idea why. See pics below. Cheers

No that the differences between the bars sit the engine forward or back .Early or late was going to convert Aircooled over to diesel.Found out there was two types as shown in your picts .Installation choice then to fit up rear gearbox mount & engine mountings to fit one of the bars to the engine bay .

there are variants early and late, basic and comfort, your top end westies and caravelles had the comfort ones obviously
pre 83 diesels used the Aircooled 091 gearbox, shorter gearbox, longer driveshafts, engine slightly further forward in the van

They don't fit right, but who cares if they're top of the range.

A few years ago I got mine from VW.
They would be a hard thing to measure but if either set are like mine the rubbers are realy quite squished. If the set you have on your JX fit OK and you'r not changing the gearbox, stick with them. I'd imagine your GTi will produce less vibration anyway.

I believe its the early ones that have a cross brace that runs under the sump, so are identified by two U shaped brackets projecting down under the big rubbers either side of the engine. None of yours seem to have them so I'd imagine they are later ones.

Im managed to locate the bushes on brickwerks after some help: it's just a case of deciding which ones to use.
