Engine replace, repair or substitute

Hello everyone, just after some opinions ! My 1.9dg runs beautifully on lpg or petrol, sounds like a sewing machine and will cruise at 65 or 70 if you need to. The only issue is the low oil pressure. When fully hot it gets about 10psi per 1000rpm, so the oil light flashes on tick over when very hot. Obviously the engine is a little worn, but is it worth spending the £130 or so on the brick works oil cooler kit to get a year or so more out of the engine, whilst I am looking either for a second hand dg I can have a go at refurbing or saving up for the rjes subaru kit and old subaru car. Will stress again it drives great, just that oil pressure (electric gauge checked with wet gauge)
Would like more power eventually to cope with boat towing but like to put the big spend off. Our is their an option I haven't thought of. All thoughts greatly appreciated.

I put a vw oil cooler on my old DG because pressure was low when very hot but it only helped when it was very hot. sounds similar to yours but I never has idle oil light.
I'd say it's not worth it just prolonging the inevitable, you need to do something soon before it goes bang, these engines will take low oil pressure but not forever.
I'd get a second hand DG for £600ish and learn how to rebuild this one ( as a 1.9 or 2.1

) not as hard as you would think, once you have the skills you can keep these engines going for not too much money, with a spare it's easy because you have time.
Scooby engines are all old as well.

Thanks, I am keeping an eye out for a local second hand dg engine, but have also been offered a subaru forester 2002 for 200. Shame it is in Scotland..

The oil pressure light only flickers if you stop after a while at full throttle (services on m6 after climbing shap, or when towing) otherwise fine. An extra year out of this engine would give me longer to say recon another dg, hence oil cooler question.
