1.9DG lumpy at cruising speed

Hi all, newby here ! New owner (8 weeks), loving it already !
1988 water cooled 1.9DG with pieberg 2e3 carb.
When I bought it, it had issues, very lumpy at all speeds. I've had the carb stripped and cleaned, I've changed plugs, oil and filter, fuel filter, new dizzy cap, rotor arm, air filter, timing reset. All combined made big improvements, main issue was the carb, however I've still got an annoying problem. Firstly, no issues starting, no issues idling, all nice and smooth. The issues are at cruising speeds, so 4th gear, 50mph ish, and you want to increase speed a little... Slight increase on the throttle and she's lumpy.... If you go heavy on the throttle, she pulls ok (feels a little forced, but not lumpy). When you settle at a speed it takes a little to get her to sit comfy at consistent speed. Same applies if your at 35mph in 3rd in traffic. It's not a major problem but having just done 220 mile each way on motorways and dual carriageways it's become annoying ! Any ideas where to start ?
Thank you !

Something not on your list of replacements is vacuum pipes
An air leak will upset the advance timing. Worth replacing these even just for elimination.

Check your timing and make sure the fuel pump is keeping up.

Highly recommend changing the vacuum stuff (including the brake one that goes to the air box) / and the oil breather (which can try to strangle itself, but looks fine when - highly recommend brickwerks silicone ones (done properly 1st is always the best way).
The pipes often look fine but are donkeys years old - i've tried cutting corners over the years,

Renew the pump, pedestal, pushrod and gaskets. If yours are original, they are likely to be worn and less effective, and need relacing, even if not causing your current issues.

Some on here advocate replacing with an electric pump, which I can understand, but simple like for like replacement is a lot easier and (for me) solved the problem.
