Oil pressure switch testing

I got the oil pressure light flashing on my jx the other day on the way home from work. I swapped out the blue switch but then started to do a little testing between the blue and grey switches connected (or not) and not sure how to interpret the results.
Basically, regardless of which switches are wired up or not (+blue+grey / +blue-grey / -blue-grey / -blue+grey) when I turn the ignition on the oil light flashes and goes out. Then starting the engine there is no light until around 10 seconds when it starts the flash again.
Can't help thinking I should've seen a difference in the tests in some way?
I've also read the wiki and searched a few posts on the topic but before I delve into oil pressure test kits etc, I'm thinking the next spot to check is in the dash?
Any pointers welcome.
