I need some new grips.
Any reccomendations ie Vise-Grips, Mole Grips, Stanley etc etc.
Need some where the jaw grooves don't wear away after a couple of uses.

What are you using them for if they wear out that quickly?

Probably a bit more than a few but they seem to lose their edge quickly.
Used for rusted bolts etc

Although expensive, Hazet is always a good choice.

For smaller screws where the normal tools don't work any more, I use this one from Cimco:

on the tip, the jaw grooves are slightly curved and are vertical rather than horizontal which allows me to firmly grip and loosen screws that otherwise I'd have to drill out

Yes Hazet are good, personally use Stahlwille good but cheaper, Irwin are reasonable medium priced ones, Stanley not impressed with, they lost their edge too early.
Speed wrench/spanners are better for removing rusted bolts though.

I'm using my dad's old Mole grips which are still in great nick and do the job.

I bought some Vise- grips from Toolstation last year and used them for welding work on my last camper van and they are still ok. Usually, the heat tends to muller the springs but they have held up well so far

I could be wrong, but I always thought vise-grips were sold by Snap-on, as we used to buy them off their van many moons ago when I worked in a dealership. Might have changed now though ...

Me too. They must be nearly as old as me (64)

Irwin brand vice grips every time.
Don't bother with mole grips.

My dad's are different to the Stanley, they're stamped 'Self Grip Wrench, Birmingham, England', and 'Mole, Regd. Trade Mark'. Maybe Stanley bought the design. Anyway the original Mole's have phenomenally hard jaw inserts, after decades of use they're still 'sharp'. There may be better designs of grip, depends on the job really.

I have in mind the Mole grip factory used to be just before the tunnels on the M4 near Newport, as you head west. Maybe it was just an advert for them. Maybe I need to get a grip meself! Anyone else remember this?

E D I T: ha ha just googled it. Them's is Welsh tools, innit, made in said factory.

Yes, my "stanley mole" grips are stamped "made in usa" on the back, maybe they made them under licence? They were my dad's, he was a mechanic, they probably date from the 80's or earlier. Certainly have had a lot of use...

My original Mole grips are from the Welsh factory bought in the early 70s the Birmingham ones pre-date these. They where actually quite an expensive tool for an apprentice then, the Stanley ones never lasted as well.

Petersen Vise grips are good also
