Just wondering how long a rebuilt CU should take to fully run in? I'm sure ours is still improving after 1000 miles.

Aye it will. It won't really bed in and run at its best until you've done at least 5000 miles and beyond. Personally I reckon about 10,000. Just keep changing the oil as often as you can afford.

We need to do more miles..
But the improvement has been very noticeable. From struggling to hit 60 to comfortably cruising at 65 with MPG now around 21. just hope both number keep improving..
